9 Ways We Saved During Our Fabulously Frugal February

We have now completed our Fabulously Frugal February (FFF) and the 2nd month where we are sharing some of the ways we saved money that month, so here we go!

1. We still have no dryer. Yes, we could have used the money Mr. SF earned by selling stuff he didn’t want any more to buy one, but we decided to continue to tough it out and put that money toward our emergency fund.

2. We turned down the thermostat another degree from January and, I have to admit, it was cold and we were all pretty miserable. To squeeze out a few more pennies, some evenings I would lower the temp another degree and turn it back up in the morning. Now that our FFF is over, we are setting our thermostat back to our standard balmy 63 degrees — I actually did this at 12:01am on March 1st.

3. We cancelled our weekly delivery of fresh fruits and vegetables; I can’t deny that I missed having this delivered right to my doorstep.

4. We did our grocery shopping exclusively at Aldi, which saved us around $300.

5. I reduced my weekly spending allowance by $10.

6. I went another month without drinking alcohol.

7. We didn’t celebrate Valentine’s Day.

8. Our garage fridge died half-way through the month which, as sad as it was, it will save us a bit on our electric bill every month going forward.

9. Made our own bread.

Even though not all of our savings were planned, all-in-all it was a very successful month. If you had a money saving win, please let us know with a comment, we love to celebrate your wins too!
