With the cost of groceries seeming to rise every time we go to the store, we continue to search for ways to stretch our grocery budget any way we can. Earlier, we gave you five suggestions for alternate places to save on food; here are 5 additional places we purchase food items at a discount.
6. Food Outlets – We have a major label bread company outlet store within a 30 minute drive. This is a great way to purchase bread items at a huge discount To save on gas we purchase enough for several months, freezing most of our purchase for later use.
7. Amazon – I have a love-hate relationship with how easy it is to purchase things through this company. Although it does not usually have the lower prices on food, when they are running sales, we have been amazed at how much money we can save, though it does take time to check back on your favorite items.
8. Walmart online – We have found that buying food on walmart.com can often be another great money saving choice.
9. Grocery delivery services – I have a favorite food delivery service that I use when needed as I live with multiple chronic illnesses making getting to a store difficult at times. Now, purchasing food through this venue does not actually save money on the particular items as they tend to be noticeably more expensive. What it does do is keep me out of a store where I may be tempted to buy more than what we need, thus saving money overall.
10. Farmers’ Markets – At the end of the day, these are not usually the cheapest place to buy, though the quality is definitely better. That said, if you show up near closing time, you will usually find vendors willing to sell at a discount to keep them from having to haul it all back home.
